Choosing Your Way

By Plane

The most convenient international gateways are Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) airports. Both offer easy connections to Coimbra via train, shuttle, or bus.

• From Lisbon: Approximately 200 km (2 hours).

• From Porto: Approximately 120 km (1 hour 15 mins).

 

By Train

Portugal’s rail network (CP - Comboios de Portugal) is the most popular way to reach us. Coimbra's main station, Coimbra-B, is in the northern part of the city, but you can easily reach the center. All trains stop here, including the high-speed (Alfa Pendular) and Intercidades. 

 

By Bus

Frequent express bus services link Coimbra to all major Portuguese cities and several international destinations.

 

By Car

Coimbra is served by the A1 motorway, the main artery of Portugal. If you are driving, simply follow GPS navigation (Google Maps, Waze or other) to the city center.

 

A Quick Tip for Travelers

If you are arriving to Portugal by train or bus, we recommend checking your local country's connecting timetables in advance. For domestic Portuguese travel, ticket booking usually opens 60 days in advance.
