Submission instructions

Preparing the short paper

Authors should use the Conference template and prepare a short paper between 2,000 and 3,000 words. The short paper should have an abstract of up to 400 words (that will be requested during the submission), and a clear and logical structure (like a regular journal paper). The short paper word limit refers to body text, excluding title, authors, affiliations, abstract and references.

We kindly request you to read the instructions included in the template, which we summarise here:

  • Do not capitalise authors' names and write the first name(s) followed by the family name.
  • Do not use automatic referencing in the figures, tables or bibliography.
  • Do not use floating text boxes or pictures.
  • Reference your citations with the Author and date, for instance, "Rothermel (1972)" or "Rothermel, 1972". Do not number the citations. For works with three or more authors, please use 'et al.'
  • Don’t paste graphics directly from Excel without converting them to pictures!
  • Don’t put floating text boxes on top of pictures.
  • Do not use footnotes! Insert the intended notes in the body text or, if necessary, at the end of the paper.

Following these guidelines helps us maintain the original formatting of your short paper when preparing the eBook.

Reviewer Instructions

The review process should be very straightforward!

For each of the short papers assigned to you, which are shown below, you should click on the arrow in the top right corner. You will be taken to the paper details page, where you will see two sections:

  1) The top section, which shows all the paper details, including the short paper file. Download it and read it carefully.

  2) The bottom section is where you will need to input your assessment of the paper, namely:

          a) Select from the “Classification” top-down menu one of the following:

      • Strong accept
      • Accept
      • Weak accept or move to poster
      • Reject

           b) Leave your comments about the paper in one or both text boxes (submit one at a time):

      • The left one is for comments you may have for us and will not be shared with the authors. You can use it if you have any sensitive comments that you do not want the authors to see but feel that we should be aware of. It's not mandatory.
      • The right box is where you should put the comments to share with the authors. Just write a couple of sentences to help authors improve their short papers, or provide reasons for rejection, if that is the case.
